Dogs Looking For Homes

Whippets on this page are waiting for their forever homes.

If you would like to apply to adopt a Scruples whippet, please fill in the online application form using the link on the righthand side of this page indicating which whippet you believe is the perfect match for you.  But, please, before you do, carefully consider the commitment a dog requires and such things as:

Are you able to offer a dog access to a securely fenced garden area at all times?
Is the fencing around this area at least 5ft high with no weak points or are you prepared to install secure fencing as required?
Can you offer a dog human companionship for most of the day? We recommend that no dog is left alone for more than approximately 4 hours a day on a regular basis.

Also, you can find a copy of our Adoption Contract here  - please read it to familiarise yourself with what you can expect from us and what we expect from you.  We do not sell whippets but normally we do ask for a donation of £160 when you adopt a Scruples dog.

Please note that we do not home dogs outside of England, Scotland and Wales.

We have a large amount of applications and it helps us tremendously if you include as much information as possible about your circumstances and the life you can offer a Scruples whippet.

Thank you.

Neo

922327_10151871094568362_597191508_oThis is Neo who was found as a stray in Sheffield and taken to the local pound. As he was not claimed he was put up for adoption and Scruples stepped in and took him into foster care.

He is estimated to be 2-3 years old and, as a stray, needed house-training, but he has taken to this well and now only has the rare accident. 472370_10151871092433362_224355331_o

Neo loves food, his and yours! He is a happy, loving whippet who is growing in confidence from the head-shy, skittish rescue, though he could get clingy if allowed. He is learning how to be a dog in a loving home with clear boundaries and is a quick learner and eager to please.

He is good with other dogs and seems ok with cats.

Hallie

Hallie 2This is gorgeous 5 month old Hallie. She is looking for a new forever home through no fault of her own and is a lovely, sweet little puppy.

Hallie is good with children and cats though can be bouncy as she is still only a puppy. She can be left for short periods but she does get anxious so would suit a home wheHallie 3re people are around most of the time. She is house-trained, though has the odd accident when left, and she is good on and off the lead.

Hallie is vaccinated and microchipped and in Leigh, Lancashire.

Vic

imageMeet Vic – he is a 6 year old boy who has been kept outside and used as a working dog in the past. He is currently living in Doncaster and is an entire male so will need to be castrated as soon as possible. However, Vic’s owner would prefer that he moves straight to his new forever home before being put through the stress of an operation. Scruples will pay this cost at one of our approved vet practices.
Vic is good with other dogs and children but as he has been worked he will probably not be safe with cats. He stands 19″ tall and is in good health.

Jake

Jake1

This is Jake who is a 6 year old, neutered male. He is very loving and chilled out and used to living with another dog.

He suffers from chronic rhinitis and sometimes has difficulty breathing. So he would benefit from a quiet home with gentle exercise and someone who doesn’t mind cleaning up his sneezes.

Jake is currenlty being fostered in East Cornwall.

Wren

Wren 01 This is Wren, a lovely 8 month old whippet cross greyhound girl.

She is 22ins tts, fully vaccinated and microchipped but not spayed at present.

This beautiful girl is good with dogs and seems fine with children though she is not currenWren 03tly living with any. She does not like to be left on her own so her new owner would need to be at home for most of the time.

Wren is an intelligent girl and very food orientated, like most sight hounds! She is more or less house trained with just the occasional accident when she gets excited. Wren travels well in the car and enjoys the open air so would suit someone with an outdoor life-style. She is to be rehomed from her owners home in Bradford, W. Yorkshire.

Lucy

Meet Lucy2beautifully brindled Lucy. She stands around 21″ tts and is 18 months old.

She is a whippet cross but her nature is typically whippet-like. She loves to cuddle up on the sofa, is very friendly and will counter-surf. She is very playful and, as a youngster, has lots of energy and loves toys. She would benefit from either the company of another dog or a home where someone is home most of the time. Scroll Lucy

Lucy is cat friendly and good with children but would be better with older children as she can be excitable. The foster carer has been working on her training and she is improving well (helped by a love of food) but will this will need continuing.

She is micro-chipped, vaccinated and spayed. And is being fostered in Bolton.

Cassie and Tess – Reserved

DSC_0233Here we have Cassie (7) and Tess (5), both fawn brindle and white neutered bitches. They are looking for a new forever sofa as their owner is emigrating. They stand around 20″ tts and are fully vaccinated.

They are both good on and off the lead and with children and in the car. They are typical whippets, loving a warm cosy bed and lots of aCassieffection.

Cassie is an easy going whippet who loves to lie in the sunshine. She will happily chase a ball, leaping into the air to catch it then bringing it back to you. She loves to play games.

Tess loves to sit beside you and will always try to get up on the sofa next to you. She loves socialising with people and doTessgs and has a very easy going nature. Unlike Cassie she is not interested in balls, preferring to simply watch, but she does love to run around just for the fun of it.

The two girls are in Edinburgh and need to be re-homed together. They are not cat safe.

Blue

Blue2Say hello to Blue, a strikingly handsome 7-8 year old castrated male.

He has ooddles of energy but also loves to sleep. He is house-trained, vaccinated and micro-chipped. He has a loyal loving nature, which he loves to show with lots of hugs and big licks and when he gets excited he sometimes barks.

Blue enjoys his food and will counter-surf if he thinks you are not watching, in true whippet style! But his loving, energetic and jovial nature is sure to win your heart.

He is being fostered in Scotland and not cat/children tested.

Daisy – Reserved

Daisy2This is the lovely Daisy who is 16 months old and, due to a change in circumstances, is in need of a new home.

She stands around 22″ to the shoulder and is vaccinated and micro-chipped. She is good with children but would probably be better as an only dog and no cats.

She is sweet natured and loves lots ofDaisy cuddled. She can jump up when meeting people but she is still young so this can be worked on.

She is currently in Portsmouth.

Beau

BeauThis is Beau, a 4 year old, female white and brindle lurcher. Unfortunately, due to a change in circumstance, her current owner, who has had her since she was a puppy, has had to make the difficult decision to re-home her, though she will stay with her until a suitable new home is found.

Beau comes from working parents and has a strong prey drive and is agile enough to jump7-8ft fences. She has not spent a lot of time with children and, though sheBeau2 seems fine, she can get over excited and tends to mouth and jump up.

Beau likes to be top dog and is not always good with other dogs so would suit a home without other pets but where they have some experience of lurchers.

She is house-trained, neutered, micro-chipped and up to date with her vaccinations and currently living south of Aberdeen.

Arri

Arri Arri is two years old and is a whippet x greyhound standing 23 1/2 to the shoulder. He is a very handsome black lad who is fully vaccinated, wormed up to date and micro-chipped.

Arri is looking for an active pet home and would like an older girl friend to live with for company. He travels well and sleeps in his crate overnight. He is currently living with 3 other boys and a bitch and gets on well with them. He is clean in the house.

He has a high prey drive so cannot live with with cats or and small furry or featheArri1red creatures. He is good on the lead after the initial excitement of going for a walk and his recall is improving all the time and he loves to run about off the lead.

He is good with other breeds of dog though a little wary/shy initially. He hasn’t met or lived with children & can be quite bouncy at times so would be better in a child free home or a home with older children (teenagers).

Arri loves his food and can be a bit of a thief! He is partial to fruit and veg. He is fed on a complete food at the moment.
